How large would a ship have to be in order to be affected by the Roche limit?
Now I won't pretend to know too much about gravitational limits and all of that… But from what I understand, The space shuttle is too small to have its own gravity. But apparently an object massive enough would have its own gravity? So let's take a star destroyer from Star Wars as an example. That is pretty damn massive. If that came within the Roche limit of earth, would it be destroyed the same way a satellite (like a moon) would? Would it be massive enough to be tidally torn apart? I've always wondered this.
