How much axle force can a bearing handle?
I want to have a strut, 1 inch in diameter, with a crimped and welded flange, 1.5 inches in diameter, to go against a bearing that has been press fitted into a thick plate of metal. I essentially want to know if the bearing can support a hundred pounds of weight being transferred to it by the flange (this flange is smaller than the outer diameter of the bearing). Like are axles designed at all to handle that kind of stress in the direction of the axle? Or would this fatigue the balls/rollers in the bearing too much?
