[Serious] sr. mechanical Engineer – Career Advice Needed
I am not a senior mechanical engineer, but my father is. He has been unemployed for a little over 5 years now. He has a P.Eng license. His last two recent jobs were in Suncor Energy (6 years) and Vale (1 year). He had left Suncor after getting a position at Vale. Then he ended up leaving Vale because of family responsibilities (mom had fallen sick and it was tough on the family) and ever since then, he has had a lot of trouble finding another job. It just saddens me to see how hard he has been trying and having no luck. He spends hours personalizing resumes/cover letters and applying to multiple job openings and still does not have any luck finding a job. At first, he used to get called in for interviews but now, he doesn't even get called in for interviews let alone land a job.
My questions is: What can he do now to land a job? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
